Art N’ About: Prescott Bluegrass Festival

Bluegrass music will fill downtown Prescott on June 24-25, 2017.  The Festival is hosted by the Prescott Chamber of Commerce and will mark its 36th year! Starting as a fiddlers’ contest in the gazebo on the Courthouse Plaza, it has grown to become one of the premier Bluegrass festivals in Arizona. It should also be mentioned that the Prescott Bluegrass Festival is the only FREE festival of its caliber in the Western United States, based on the level of talent attracted to this event.  Along with its toe-tapping music, the Festival draws a variety of vendors and food booths. Located along Goodwin Street on the south side of the historic Courthouse Plaza, all you will need is a blanket or chair to sit on the lawn under the shady elm trees.

The 36th Annual Prescott Bluegrass Festival entertainment will be headlined with the music of HEIDI CLAIRE and RON THOMASON. Other featured bands which will be performing include: MARTY WARBURTON & HOME GIRLS; SONORAN DOGS; OLD BLUE BAND; and Prescott’s own hometown group, SUGAR AND THE MINT.  The Festival starts on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and continues until 5:00 p.m. The Saturday EVENING CONCERT starts at 7:00 p.m. with a big surprise in store! Sunday’s event starts at 10:30 a.m. and ends with a RAFFLE PRIZE DRAWING at 3:00 p.m.

Prescott Bluegrass fans enjoy the jamming sessions that take place all around the Courthouse Plaza. Strangers and friends gather with their instruments to play some of the best bluegrass music around! There is also jamming at the Prescott Mile High Middle School where camping is available.

Although the Festival does not charge admission, there are numerous costs associated with hosting and managing this popular event.  To offset costs, the Prescott Chamber of Commerce sells t-shirts, hats, Pepsi products and raffle tickets throughout the weekend. The raffle prize drawing will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. The list of prizes is growing and includes a 55-inch television, kayak, trips to Las Vegas, bluegrass instruments and much more!

The Prescott Bluegrass Festival would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors. Thank you Lamb Chevrolet for being the Title Sponsor of this event. Other generous event sponsors include Arizona Commission on the Arts, the City of Prescott, along with many local businesses and individuals. Please consider supporting the Prescott Bluegrass Festival when you visit
