Helken & Horn Celebrates 30 Years as Prescott’s Leading Advertising Agency

Helken & Horn Advertising Agency is proud to announce its 30th anniversary serving businesses in Prescott and throughout Northern Arizona. For three decades, the agency has been a dedicated partner to the local business community, helping countless companies grow and achieve their goals.

President Tracey Horn reflected on this significant milestone with a sense of honor and amazement. “We are so grateful to have served so many wonderful mom-and-pop style businesses throughout Northern Arizona,” she said. “We’ve grown right alongside many of our clients and are fortunate to see some of them even pass their businesses onto their kids.”

This deep connection to clients and their legacies is a cornerstone of the agency’s success.

Helken & Horn is a full-service ad agency offering radio, television, video, print, and digital communications. Horn credits much of the agency’s success to her team of talented graphic designers, copywriters, media planners, website designers, and social media experts.

“In advertising, having the right talent is everything,” said Horn. “You need smart, creative people to solve the marketing challenges each business is facing.”

Longtime Prescottonians may recall some of Helken & Horn’s memorable ad campaigns. From promoting Communication Man of the Communication Center (owned by the late Prescott Mayor Rowle Simmons) to creating ads for Seitz Office City and spearheading promotional efforts for the Arizona Jamboree Musical Show, the agency’s work has left a lasting impression over the decades. Tracey’s client, the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Prescott, even hired Tracey to go to Israel twice to record press and do photography.

Helken & Horn also organized dinner shows at The Palace Restaurant & Saloon for many years. Today, their creative efforts continue with clients such as Sharlot Hall Museum, Yavapai County Contractors Association, and Black Arrow Native American Jewelry & Art, working closely with them to create new brands while preserving established ones.

The marketing landscape has transformed dramatically since Helken & Horn first opened its doors in a small apartment in downtown Prescott. The agency began in an era dominated by traditional advertising, long before email and websites became essential tools.

“Marketing has changed in so many ways since back then,” Horn noted.

From a world with no digital conveniences to the current age of instant communication, the journey has been a progressive one.

While the agency fully embraces the digital world, it maintains a strong belief in the power of traditional marketing.

“We still feel strongly about traditional marketing—people still like print,” Horn explained.

This balanced approach allows Helken & Horn to create comprehensive strategies that meet clients wherever their audience is. In marketing, true success comes from striking the right balance—leveraging both established methods and innovative digital strategies. Relying on only one form of marketing can limit growth; a well-rounded mix ensures brands stay visible, adaptable, and connected to their customers.

Looking back, Horn is most proud of the tangible impact the agency has had. “I’m proud of the many advertising campaigns we’ve created over the years that have helped clients succeed in their business. They’ve helped their businesses grow.”

Besides working with local businesses, Tracey is the Founder of Prescott’s Whiskey Row New Year’s Eve Boot Drop and continues to assist with all the marketing for this annual event. “When it comes to helping Prescott be the best it can be, even if we’re working behind the scenes to make things happen, we’re honored to be part of this great community,” she said.

She has volunteered her marketing expertise to many other local non-profit groups, including 15 years on the Arizona Community Foundation of Yavapai County Advisory Board. “I truly believe if you own a business here, you need to give back. Whether it’s with your time or services, it’s an important part of leadership.”

As Helken & Horn celebrates this 30-year achievement, the team looks forward to continuing its mission of fostering business growth and building lasting relationships. With a proven track record and a forward-thinking perspective, the agency is excited for what the next 30 years will bring.
