When Celtic Spells arrives at the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center on Saturday, March 7, audiences will experience far more than a concert. At its heart is Máiréad Nesbitt – a Grammy® and Emmy®-nominated violinist, composer, and founding member of the internationally celebrated phenomenon Celtic Woman – whose artistry, passion, and storytelling have captivated millions around the world.
Created and led by Nesbitt, Celtic Spells is a deeply personal and immersive performance that blends traditional Irish and Scottish music with original compositions, evocative movement, and rich visual storytelling. Inspired by themes of love, migration, and resilience, the production traces a journey from Ireland to the New World, weaving history and emotion into a spellbinding musical experience. Audiences are drawn into a timeless narrative where heritage, heart, and human connection take center stage.
Nesbitt’s journey is as compelling as the stories she tells on stage. Raised in a multi-generational musical family in County Tipperary, Ireland, she was a former All-Ireland fiddle champion and a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland before studying at the Cork School of Music and London’s Royal Academy of Music. Her fearless, high-energy style has taken her to some of the world’s most iconic stages – from Carnegie Hall and Red Rocks to Broadway, the White House, and performances for four U.S. Presidents. The New York Times famously described her as “a demon of a fiddle player,” a testament to her electrifying presence and virtuosity.
With Celtic Spells, Nesbitt steps fully into the spotlight as both artist and storyteller, inviting audiences to experience Celtic music through a modern, emotional lens. The result is an evening that feels intimate and epic all at once – a celebration of heritage, artistry, and the power of music to transcend time and place.
Celtic Spells blends powerful storytelling, rich cultural tradition, and world-class musicianship into an experience that feels both intimate and inspiring. Led by the remarkable Máiréad Nesbitt, the performance offers a soulful evening that resonates with Prescott’s love of meaningful, live artistry and shared community moments.
