When Danielle Derois started Old Soul Creatives, she wasn’t simply looking for a way to earn extra income. As a stay-at-home mom with a lifelong love of art and crafting, she wanted to create something that would allow her to stay present for her family while sharing her creativity with others. Today, that dream has grown into one of Prescott’s favorite mobile paint and sip experiences, bringing together people of all ages for afternoons and evenings filled with laughter, connection, and colorful canvases.
For Danielle, the journey to Prescott began with an unexpected love story. Originally from North Carolina, she visited Prescott in 2010 for a church conference, where she met the man who would become her husband. After a long-distance relationship and marriage, she made Arizona her home and quickly discovered something special about the community.
“The support I’ve received from local businesses and residents has allowed my business to grow,” she says. “Prescott is a place that truly values connection, creativity, and supporting small businesses.”
That sense of community is reflected in every Old Soul Creatives event. While guests leave with a completed painting, Danielle believes the real masterpiece is what happens around the table.
“My classes are about so much more than painting,” she explains. “They give people a chance to unplug from everyday stress, connect with others, and simply enjoy the moment.”
Over the years, she’s watched strangers become friends, families spend meaningful time together, and hesitant first-time painters discover confidence they never knew they had.
Danielle believes those same connections define strong leadership. Rather than seeing leadership as being the loudest voice in the room, she believes true leaders lead with empathy, compassion, and kindness.
“Strength can be found in softness,” she says. “When people feel seen and valued, they’re more likely to grow.”
Like many entrepreneurs, Danielle admits her biggest obstacle hasn’t been competition—it’s been overcoming self-doubt. Imposter syndrome still appears from time to time, but she’s learned to focus on the evidence in front of her: sold-out classes, returning customers, and meaningful relationships built throughout the community.
“We can be incredibly hard on ourselves as women,” she says. “That’s why I think it’s so important to encourage one another and celebrate each other’s successes.”
Her dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed. Along with building a thriving business from the ground up, Danielle was honored as the 2026 Prescott Woman Awards winner in the Makers category, an achievement she describes as both humbling and deeply meaningful.
Beyond her business, Danielle stays active by teaching craft classes at the Prescott Public Library, partnering with local businesses on community events, and volunteering with organizations such as Prescott Area Young Professionals and Maya’s Mercado during the holidays.
As Old Soul Creatives continues to grow, Danielle is excited about expanding into new venues and creating even more opportunities for people to gather, laugh, and create together.
Her advice for aspiring entrepreneurs is refreshingly simple: “Stay true to yourself. People aren’t just investing in your business—they’re investing in you. Your authenticity is your greatest asset.”
