Prescott-area families, caregivers and supporters will come together to raise awareness, honor loved ones and move closer to a world without Alzheimer’s

For many participants, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s begins long before the first step is taken.

It begins with a diagnosis. A parent who starts forgetting familiar names. A spouse who becomes a caregiver. A family remembering someone they have lost. For others, it begins with a desire to support friends, neighbors and the millions of families whose lives have been changed by Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

On Saturday, September 26, 2026, those stories will come together at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Quad Cities at the Prescott Valley Civic Center.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the Alzheimer’s Association’s signature fundraising event, bringing communities together to raise funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Locally, the event has become an opportunity for residents throughout Prescott, Prescott Valley and the surrounding communities to stand alongside people living with dementia, caregivers, families and advocates.

Participation is open to individuals and teams, and there is no registration fee. Participants are encouraged to raise funds and invite friends, family members, coworkers and community organizations to join them in supporting the cause.

A Garden Filled With Meaning

One of the most recognizable and emotional traditions of Walk day is the Promise Garden.

Registered participants carry flowers representing their personal connection to Alzheimer’s and dementia. Blue represents someone living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia. Yellow represents someone supporting or caring for a person living with the disease. Purple honors someone lost to the disease, while orange represents supporters of the cause and the vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.

Together, those flowers create a visual reminder that although every Alzheimer’s story is different, no family should have to face the disease alone.

The need for that support is significant. According to the Alzheimer’s Association’s 2026 Arizona statistics, approximately 151,500 Arizonans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s, while 242,000 Arizona residents serve as unpaid caregivers. Those caregivers provide an estimated 379 million hours of unpaid care valued at $9.7 billion.

Those numbers make the Walk more than a fundraiser. They represent neighbors, friends, parents, spouses, coworkers and families throughout Arizona.

Funds raised through Walk to End Alzheimer’s support the Alzheimer’s Association’s work in care and support, research and advocacy. The Association also provides a free 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900, connecting people living with dementia, caregivers and families with information, local resources, crisis assistance and emotional support.

Whether you walk in memory of someone, in support of a caregiver, alongside someone living with dementia or simply because you believe in the cause, every participant has a reason for showing up.

And on September 26, hundreds of individual reasons will become one shared purpose: taking another step toward a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.
