Magpie Home & Gift, a gathering place, offers gifts and décor, custom pieces, and workshops

According to old English lore, two Magpie birds together represent joy and mirth. That describes Patty Price and Sharon Knutson-Felix, the owners of Magpie Home and Gift, in a nutshell. When they’re together, curating the perfect gifts, crafting fun projects with friends, that happiness is evident.

Patty and Sharon met at a Prescott antique store and soon discovered that they shared a dream of owning a place to provide affordable gifts and home décor. Their dream “hatched” when they decided to open a gathering place, where visitors would have real, memorable experiences.

In October of 2019, Patty and Sharon opened the doors of Magpie Home and Gift, ready to share their nest of gift items, accessories and one-of-a-kind, custom-made products. The women were proud to share their beautiful classroom, too, where they offer an assortment of workshops where visitors learn to (among other things) make candles, signs, and sugar scrubs, and to decorate cookies.

Patty and her husband Gary moved to Prescott for a slower-paced life. They wanted to have time to enjoy their family and friends. Patty, a creative person, has been looking for that perfect place or opportunity to share her talent of turning a house into a home, teaching people how to create custom pieces the perfect gifts for those special people in their lives. Patty has vast experience in retail and enjoyed owning her own business in the valley for six years. Gary, an electrician and a jack of all trades, helped to bring Magpie Home and Gift to fruition.

Sharon and her husband David purchased and refurbished a home in north Prescott.  They have extensive ties to the public safety community statewide. Sharon served for 16 years in the nonprofit field, supporting public safety, and David served almost fifty years at the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the City of Phoenix. After retirement, both David and Sharon wanted to enjoy life and give back to their family and community.  Their greatest joy comes from helping people.  Sharon has always loved helping others, especially making them feel loved through difficult times. She enjoys organizing and bringing beauty to whatever or wherever she can.

Together Patty and Sharon work to help others “feather their nests” and handpick gifts for loved ones. Magpie is filled with custom furniture, some shabby chic furniture, home décor, accessories, jewelry, and Dixie Paint. Their beautiful classroom area offers a great gathering place to host craft classes or private DIY classes. Visitors can put on their own creative hats, take classes, or have a beautiful keepsake created for their home or that special someone.
