With a world premiere in Paris at the 18e International Signes de Nuit International film festival, the short film “Mistress of Tears” is an honored, official selection in film festivals around the world. Cannes, Venice, Istanbul, Montreal, Vienna, and Tokyo are just some of the cities where this film is being screened and garnering awards such as Best Director at the Eastern European Film Festival.

Filmed in Prescott and directed by Nicole Adette Romine, an award-winning director and choreographer, the Mistress of Tears is about greed and the desperate need to fill the void within. She craves light and is addicted to the tears of others because she cannot shed her own. Stars from the ballet world were considered for the part, but Anisa Sinteral-Scott, a former dancer with Ballet West, was cast in the lead role. It was incredibly challenging, emotionally and technically, but she loved every moment of it.

The Mistress of Tears is part of a bigger vision…. Moon.

For the past four years, Ms. Romine has been bringing together artists from all over the world to participate in the creation of Moon – a full-length theatrical production. It is the story of a young girl who goes on a quest to find the Moon which has been stolen by the Mistress of Tears. Extraordinary illustrations bring to life the many characters and set designs that illuminate the world of the Moon. Elements of steampunk, fantasy, and mysticism come alive in this exploration of beauty and the wonder of transformation.  The original score is being created by two composers; Lilia Yurchuk from Kiev, and Dave Klotz from Toronto who also composed the score for the film. At present, the goal is to raise enough funds to complete the two-hour musical score, then present it to world-class producers.

The moon illuminates the power of the arts to inspire a greater vision of ourselves and our world. It is a story for us all. It asks us to re-imagine the possibilities of all that we might be. Moon asks us to dream, to become.
