The Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Arizona Gets a New Playground in Just One Day, Thanks to Help from Generous Partners and Volunteers

By Clarissa Robertson

This past March, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Arizona (BGCCAZ) in partnership with Fiesta Bowl Charities and KaBOOM! rallied over 100 community volunteers to build a playground in just one day. Together, they transformed a section of the parking lot adjacent to the Prescott Clubhouse into a state-of-the-art playground—one of just a few in the downtown Prescott area (it’s on Aubrey Street). It’s now open for all families and children to use.

This exciting addition is part of the Club’s capital campaign, the first step in adding additional space for children at the Prescott Clubhouse. Fiesta Bowl Charities awarded a grant to the local Boys & Girls Clubs for the much-needed playground, with KaBOOM! working as a partner to help make the project a reality.

Fiesta Bowl Charities’ mission is to enhance organizations that contribute to the success of their communities through youth, sports, and education. BGCCAZ is thrilled to be the recipient of funding from a statewide organization who cares deeply about Arizona’s rural communities.

KaBOOM! is a national non-profit dedicated to giving all kids, especially those living in poverty, the childhood they deserve through places to play.

Many people came together to make this dream a reality including Fiesta Bowl Charities, KaBOOM!, the City of Prescott, local media partners and the amazing 100 community volunteers.  The Club members and neighboring families now have a unique space to play, thanks to the support of this amazing community.
