July 31 to August 2, 2026

The Prescott Gem and Mineral Show returns for its 22nd year this summer at the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley. Dates are July 31 through August 2. It is the largest indoor rock and mineral show in Northern Arizona and one of the few events in the region that genuinely works for all ages.

This event did not start big. Back in 2004, it was a small local show held right after the County Fair. Attendance was light. Flies were not. Vendors were handed fly swatters just to get through the day, according to past club president Maggi Leiber.

That version of the show is long gone.

Today, more than 75 vendors from across the western U.S. fill the venue with a wide range of material. You will find high end mineral specimens, handmade jewelry, fossils, rough rock, beads, and tools. Whether you are a collector, a hobbyist, or just curious, there is enough variety to hold your attention.

Show Chair Dan Hunt keeps the focus simple. Bring in a diverse group of vendors and keep the mix fresh every year.

One feature that consistently draws attention is the fluorescent mineral exhibit. This is not a basic display. It is a darkened, immersive setup using ultraviolet lighting and lasers to reveal minerals that glow in ways most people have never seen. It is a signature part of the show.

This is also a true family event. Kids are not just tagging along. They have their own space with hands on activities like gold panning, geode splitting, games, and face painting. It gives them something to do while adults explore the show.

Club members also contribute curated display cases that highlight both natural specimens and finished work.

Admission includes a raffle ticket, with prizes drawn daily.

Club President John Munday puts it plainly. The show is the most visible part of what the club does and how it connects with the community. But it is only one piece.

If you want more, the club offers monthly rockhounding trips, lapidary workshops, and out of state excursions. There are also scholarship opportunities through Yavapai College.
