Getting Healthy and Staying Well

By Megan Yakovich

When Debbie Krupnick, Nurse Practitioner, opened the doors to SIRIUS Health & Wellness, LLC in 2014, her vision was to offer primary healthcare alongside fitness and nutritional counseling all at one facility.

“My husband and I chose the name SIRIUS after the brightest star in the sky, with the premise that at SIRIUS Health & Wellness, your health shines above the rest,” says Debbie.

To help her accomplish her mission to “improve the health and wellness of our community across the lifespan, fostering individuals to make choices that promote wellness and inspiring them to take responsibility for their own healthy lifestyles,” she asked Michelle Fain, Certified Personal Trainer, and Katy Kimball, Registered Dietitian, to join her.

Services provided at SIRIUS can be combined and/or separate, depending on the needs of the client. Individual services include:

Primary Healthcare: With more than 20 years of experience as a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner in family and adult medicine, Debbie is passionate about helping clients get healthy and stay well. Debbie offers wellness physicals and manages chronic conditions/disease and acute illnesses (and can bill most insurances for these services).

Personal Training: Bringing eight years of experience as a Certified Personal Trainer (along with a CrossFit Level 1 certification), Michelle values the importance and relevance of incorporating fitness into everyday life. She guides clients in utilizing the on-site private gym at Sirius, which features a Pilates reformer, rowing machine, treadmill, recumbent bike, free weights, and TRX system.

“Nothing makes me happier than encouraging and motivating individuals to achieve their fitness goals,” Michelle says.

Nutritional Counseling: With a degree in Food and Nutrition Science and additional training in Diabetic Nutrition and Counseling, Katy brings a wealth of knowledge around healthy nutritional choices that help the body to function optimally.

Combined services include Debbie, Michelle, and Katy’s 12-week diet program, Jumpstart Your Health, and Bone Health. They’re also excited to announce the launch of their newest program, Embracing the Change, which is designed to help women transition into, and positively embrace, menopause.

Combining their efforts to change the perspective on menopause from one of dread to a positive experience, Debbie addresses common symptoms like hot flashes, sleep issues, mood swings and libido; Katy focuses on nutritional needs and truncal weight gain; and Michelle helps with strength training and keeping bones strong. The program is customized to the individual based on a thorough questionnaire and assessments provided by all three providers.
