Agape House Walks Alongside Families on the Journey to Independence
What would you do if you found yourself without a place to call home? What if you lost your job, a pandemic changed your economic situation, or a health situation drained all of your financial resources? Fortunately, Agape House of Prescott gives hope to families who are struggling, living in crisis, and experiencing homelessness. Agape House provides more than just a home; it offers the resources, tools, and mentoring needed for families to thrive and gain independence.
Agape House doesn’t walk ahead or walk behind; the organization walks alongside the families as they journey to a life of independence. The families demonstrate hard work, courage, and dedication through Agape House’s “Pathway to Independence” program. Agape’s success rate—families who graduate from the program and are living independently a year later—is more than 86%.
A recent graduate courageously shared her journey, expressing her gratitude for the Agape House program’s opportunities.
“I was in the Agape House program for nine months. Agape House really helped my family out during hard times. My husband and I have three children. We moved to Arizona to be closer to family in Phoenix. We were confident we would find work and a place to live quickly. We found work, but it was right after the COVID pandemic, so finding a place to live was a challenge. We tried numerous avenues, but we ran out of money. To survive, my husband lived in our vehicle, and the children and I stayed in a women-only shelter. We were accepted into Agape House during the final week we had left before reaching our limit on the length of stay in the shelter. We were so relieved.”
“We were fortunate to have a place to stay, which allowed us to save money and eventually purchase a home. Agape House provided the guidance we needed in budgeting and helped us become financially independent. They provided a realtor to help us find a home. Because of the help from Agape House, we will be okay. Many success stories have come from the help they provide, and I’m proud to be one of the success stories.”
“Thanks to Agape House, we were able to save enough money to purchase a home. They gave us the hand up that we needed to pull ourselves out of homelessness. We will forever be grateful.”
Since 2013, the Agape House program has transformed the lives of 46 families. With nine apartments in Prescott and six homes on the Prescott Valley campus nearly complete, Agape House is equipped to help even more families rebuild their lives.
