Tomar Pain Centers is celebrating its 10th anniversary in Prescott with a new location,at 919 12th Place near Yavapai Reginal Medical Center. Dr. Thomas Masters still follows his long-standing philosophy of holistic healing – especially for chronic pain.

“We do go that extra mile for our patients,” Dr. Masters relates. He is a fully licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.), meaning he focuses on providing a holistic and preventative approach with all of his patients. Doctors of Osteopathy receive extra training in the musculoskeletal system, which is the interconnected system of nerves, muscles and bones that make up two-thirds of a human body.

Pain is one of the top three reasons people go to the doctor, Dr. Masters says. His new patients often have endured years, even decades of chronic pain and unsuccessful treatments.

While it is hard to get most doctors to spend more than 15 minutes with a patient, Dr. Masters takes the time to pinpoint the root causes of each patient’s pain, from fibromyalgia to headaches.

“Most doctors don’t want to deal with chronic pain because it takes a lot of time and energy,” Dr. Masters observes. “Pain is multi-faceted and has many effects on the human body. You can’t just give a shot or a pill and think you healed a person.”

Patient testimonials reveal more about Dr. Masters’ integrated approach.

“Dr. Masters listened to me describe my pain and asked me about my diet and lifestyle,” relates a patient named Judy, who prefers to use only her first name to protect her medical privacy. “He made it clear, my best option was a lifestyle change, lose weight, stretch and walk. He also suggested lab testing. He gave me three therapy sessions for the pain, which gave me relief. I have implemented the lifestyle changes and I am seeing good results, weight loss, no pain, and feel better about myself.”
