Stevie Vawter, Office Manager, Fann Contracting, Inc.
Stevie Vawter’s deep-rooted passion, not only for her work in the construction industry but also for the impact she may have on the future success of our community, is only rivaled by her creativity, dedication, and pride. All of this combines to propel her into future leadership roles not only at Fann Contracting, Inc., but also in the community as she strives to become a strong role model, for upcoming young females through mentoring and like-minded partnerships.
Although she wasn’t born here, Stevie considers herself a Prescott native. Her family has been in the Prescott area since 1900 when her great grandfather helped rebuild Whiskey Row after a fire tore through several businesses. Her family then bought a dairy in Williamson Valley in 1904 and purchased several homesteads that combined to become the Matli Ranch.
Stevie’s grandfather and great uncle rode in the Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo throughout the 1920s and 1930s. Her mother continued in the family footsteps, competing in the rodeo in the late 1970s, and is still a working ranch hand on the Pipeline Ranch near Wickenburg.
Stevie got her start in construction as a senior in high school, working for Fann Contracting, Inc. part-time after school. Throughout her 13 years there, she has held various positions and worked within each department, eventually working her way into her current role as Office Manager.
For Stevie, working at Fann—the only company she’s ever worked for—has become so much more than just a career … it’s family. Her father and sister have been employed with Fann for 29 and nine years, respectively.
“The best part of working at Fann is the amazing group of people I work with and the opportunities there are to learn new things not only about the construction industry but business in general,” Stevie said.
She hopes to share her passion for the construction industry with others, especially women. She believes it is important to empower and support women in perusing their dreams and reaching their goals even if those things happen in a “man’s world.”

In 2018, Stevie graduated from Yavapai College with an Associates of Applied Science in Management and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Operations Management at ASU.
Stevie and her husband, Kris, have two young, energetic boys.
She said, “My family is my world. I want to show my boys that women can be educated, successful, raise a family, and give back to the community all at the same time. I feel it’s important for them to see their mom working hard in hopes that they will gain the same work ethic.”
