What began as a lifestyle magazine has evolved into a dynamic, digital-forward brand rooted in storytelling, connection, and community uplift.
We spotlight the women who lead, create, serve, and inspire — entrepreneurs, artists, educators, advocates, and changemakers whose work shapes the place we call home. Through powerful profiles, thoughtful features, and meaningful conversations, we go beyond the surface to share stories that matter.
Today, our storytelling lives across multiple platforms. Through the She Spark Podcast, we amplify real conversations around leadership, purpose, growth, and connection. Through the Prescott Woman Awards, we honor women whose courage, compassion, and contributions make a lasting difference. And through Portraits with Purpose, we combine storytelling and service, using photography to give back and uplift local nonprofits.

A Beloved Prescott Valley Tradition
What began 24 years ago as a small community Christmas light display has blossomed into one of Arizona’s most dazzling holiday attractions. Prescott Valley’s Valley of Lights has become a beloved tradition, drawing thousands of visitors annually. The event features animated displays created from thousands of colorful lights designed to spark wonder in both young and old.
The idea for Valley of Lights was first envisioned in 2000 by then-Chamber Executive Director Lew Rees. Inspired by a similar light display in his former community of Branson, Missouri, Rees collaborated with a local lighting company to plan and create the first eight original displays. Retired Executive Assistant Beverly Oleson fondly recalled how, in those early days, staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to bring the vision to life—dragging electrical cords, securing displays, and staffing the donation booth. Little did they know this fledgling event would grow into Prescott Valley’s premier holiday attraction.

Respect, Teamwork, and Limitless Possibilities
Generally, when people think of Arizona Public Service (APS)—the largest electricity provider in the state—they may picture men at the forefront. And while men make up the majority of the employee roster (as of May, 27.4 percent of APS’s 6,000 employees are women), there is a growing number of women employees within the organization … in a variety of roles.
Mackenzie Rodgers, APS Transmission Operations and Maintenance, explained that as an organization, APS supports women in all roles, including leadership … and many opportunities exist that the public—and women in particular—may not expect.
“I’ve worked in many jobs where I’m the only woman on the team or one of many women on the team,” Mackenzie said, “but I have never felt not supported or empowered or mentored to be my best and support other women to be their best as well.”

In just five years, the Prescott Unified School District Education Foundation (PUSD EF) continues their mission to support the District and its students through financial and material contributions provided by generous members of the community. Those instrumental in leading the way to achieve those goals are Executive Director of the PUSD EF Tami Phillips and newcomer Alumni Engagement Coordinator VISTA through the AmeriCorps program Evan Hocter.

Hernandez Family Q&A
The Hernandez family has a long-standing relationship with the Prescott Farmer’s Market. The family matriarch, Lupe, and her husband, Ruben, started their family farm with nothing. They borrowed land to start growing produce and then eventually were able to build on their own land, incorporating their greenhouse and crops.
