Celebrating 50 Years of Showcasing Fine Art
On Memorial Day weekend, the Phippen Museum will proudly celebrate 50 years of showcasing the outstanding fine art of the American West at its annual outdoor Western Art Show and Sale on Prescott’s Courthouse Plaza.
Inspired by the legacy and inspirational character of the first president of the Cowboy Artists of America, George Phippen, this event is designed to elevate Western art, encourage emerging Western artists looking for gallery representation, and entice art buyers and serious fine art collectors. It is also a venue that creates a special camaraderie and solidarity between participants and a unique opportunity to be recognized as serious western, wildlife, and landscape artists.

Getting the Epic Shot
Kimberly Marsh never planned to start a photography business. Now, a decade in, she said during a recent interview, “I love it.”
Kim specializes in portraits and personal branding—and doing things differently.
Shortly after she started photographing people, others would see the photos and say, “I can see their soul in that picture,” or, “I feel like I know them,” or, “I can see straight through them.”

From the time she was a little girl, Alexes Niekamp dreamed of opening a dance studio. Growing up in California, she went to Marti’s Dance Studio. She practiced and learned every style of dance offered. As the daughter of a single mother, she found that the dance world offered her a sense of community and belonging.

Wandering Home
As I sat down on the couch across from Ralene Challinor, the warmth, loving-kindness, and acceptance this woman carries around with her spilled out into space between us. Little did I know that I would end up spending the next two hours there, listening to the amazing story of how Ralene became a foster and adoptive mom and began her career with Christian Family Care.

Living Life with Heart
Many people have important childhood experiences that steer them toward their life’s work. Few, however, can point to an event as significant as testifying before the United Nations at 11 years old. That experience motivated Olufunso Odunukan, MD, MPH, FACC, FSCAI – an interventional cardiologist who recently joined Dignity Health, Yavapai Regional Medical Group (YRMG) – to pursue a career in medicine.
