The Phippen Museum Hosts Two of its Most Popular Events, the Hold Your Horses! Exhibition & Sale, and the Fall Gathering Barbeque

Two very popular annual events are coming soon to the Phippen Museum and you’re invited to join them for all the fun.

The Hold Your Horses! Invitational Exhibition & Sale: August 3-September 22

The sixth Hold Your Horses! Invitational Exhibition & Sale, an annual tribute to that majestic, loyal, and hardworking companion of all mankind, the horse, begins August 3. On display through September 22 in the expansive Marley Gallery, this exhibit and sale is based entirely on one of the most resilient, steadfast and dependable of all animals and features outstanding equine artwork for sale by 40 of the nation’s top western artists. A special Opening Reception and Members’ Preview for this presentation of fine art will take place Friday, August 2 at 5:30 p.m., with members, admitted free and guests for $12 each. A cash bar and delicious butler-passed hors d’oeuvres from El Gato Azul will also be provided.

Annual Fall Gathering Barbecue: September 21

On Saturday, September 21 at 5:30 p.m., the Phippen will host its 14th Annual Fall Gathering Barbecue. Featuring an always-popular and delicious ranch-style menu from Big Daddy E’s Smokin’ Barbecue, and live entertainment by the talented musicians with Sky Daddy & Lonesome Valley, this commemorative event pays tribute to the museum’s roots and its Grand Opening in 1984.

In addition, as is tradition, the Fall Gathering will include a special ceremony for the latest inductee into the Arizona Rancher & Cowboy Hall of Fame. This special display was established at the Phippen in 2009 to honor Arizona’s prestigious ranchers and working/rodeo cowboys.

This year’s inspirational new member is the late Cynthia Rigden, a well-known local rancher, working cowgirl and extremely talented Western artist.

The cost is $30 per person (with children under eight admitted free).
