Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Arizona Offer Adventure Programs to Enrich Local Youth Through Outdoor Experiences and More
The local Boys & Girls Clubs have grown in the past few years; they offer day camp programs as often as possible, generate outdoor adventure experiences for youth, and innovative ways to connect with kids. They have adhered to their foundations of safety and academic enrichment while developing confidence and character across the wide variety of fun offered to Club Kids.
Navigating 2025, the Clubs are stalwart in sustaining their adventures. They have begun to hire program specific leaders to enrich their adventures even further. Archery classes are evolving into an archery crew with the hopes of a competitive youth team. This offer of program and youth enrichment is not limited to those who need the Clubs most; Clubs in Prescott and Prescott Valley are offering our services to all who seek adventure.
With Spring Break upon us and the summer season in sight, The Clubs are extending programs to any kids looking for something fun and exciting. They are looking to serve the kids in our community differently, recognizing the lack of outdoor engagement. Adventure activities not only bring the kids to the outdoors, but they establish an environment of trust, leadership, and above all a safe place to both succeed and fail.
Failure is a hard endeavor, one in which the path back to success may not be so easy to see. The Clubs not only empower children to succeed, but to process and evaluate where they may have missed something. Outdoor programs have these lessons embedded in their curricula. Archery develops self-feedback and minor adjustment to the process. Missing the target only presents an opportunity for the next arrow to hit. The adage of getting back on the horse after falling is prevalent in activities such as archery. At the Clubs we teach that “every arrow is a second chance.” Failure is a part of the recipe that makes success.
Kids today have the luxury of experiencing the entire world and all it has to offer through a five-inch screen. While this experience has expanded both knowledge and creativity among our youth; it has also overwhelmed their understanding of the craft. Watching point-of-view footage of a Kayak excursion may be exciting and jaw dropping, but the child’s perception of the skill required is askew. The Clubs’ objective is to share the skill with kids so they can learn to respect the hard work, discipline, and strength it takes to be in a kayak.
The Clubs mission of providing an adventure every day is not just for fun, more so it is to enable youth in our communities broaden their scope of understanding in the outdoors and to embrace the world’s best classroom.
