The Non-Surgical Facelift Now Available in Northern Arizona
Dr. Kaveh Karandish (also known as Dr. K.) and his team are delighted to introduce the non-surgical facelift to their cosmetic arsenal.
Officially known as the “PDO Thread,” the non-surgical facelift creates a mesh that supports skin tightness and structure. People use it to enhance facial beauty.
Below are Dr. K.’s answers to some of the questions he hears most frequently, regarding the PDO Thread procedure:
Q: What is PDO Thread?
PDO Thread is an excellent and effective medical device used to temporarily enhance the appearance of the skin on the face and neck. PDO Thread is made of a material called Polydioxanone (PDO). FDA-approved in 2004, PDO has a proven safety track record in surgery and wound closure. It’s been used for about six years in orthopedic surgery and cosmetic skin rejuvenation.
Through collagen stimulation the PDO Thread effectively strengthen the contour of the face, reduce roundness, lift sagging skin in the cheeks, jaw, and neck, enhance lip volume and also produce an excellent eyebrow lift.
Here’s a brief description of the different types of threads, and what they’re used for:
Smooth Threads: Used for the mesh technique, smooth threads are injected as a “scaffolding” just below the dermis layer, to create collagen which will, in turn, create skin tightening.
Barb (Cog) Threads: This is a larger thread with barbs, or cogs, going in one direction. These threads are injected sub-dermally and insertion of these threads is more elaborate than the smooth threads. They are generally used for brow-lift, cheeks, jawline, facelift, etc. Results are immediate and can be very effective if implemented properly.
Twist Threads: Doctors create twist threads by wrapping smooth threads around the needle to create a small “spring” which creates volume in areas such as the nasolabial folds, the glabella and the lips.
Q: How fast do people see results?
Immediately! Patients experience a visible lift or glow right after treatment. This will improve over a period of one or two months as new collagen grows between the threads and continues to lift and tighten the skin. The threads gradually dissolve after four to six months, but the resulting lift or skin tightening remains for another 6 to 12 months.
Q: How long does the procedure take?
The length of each procedure depends on many factors and the size of treatment area, but typically takes between 15 and 50 minutes. There is no (or minimal) downtime and no anesthesia is needed. The specialized needles allow small areas to be treated effectively. As there are no incisions, stitches are not required and scarring is unlikely.
This is the immediate result of one of Dr. K.’s patients who received combination of Smooth and Barb threads.
Dr. K. utilizes NOVAThREAD, a Miami-based manufacturer providing high quality, hypoallergenic threads.
“This procedure is very well tolerated overall,” he said. “The material are excellent quality. The procedure is very safe and the results are fantastic and very effective.”
