Kyra Hobaica – Miss Granite Mountain

Kyra Hobaica is a 21-year-old student at Grand Canyon University, majoring in Justice Studies and minoring in Christian Studies. She plans to eventually become a prosecuting attorney serving victims of violence to let their voice be heard, and to give them the justice they deserve. Kyra has an urban farm in her Phoenix backyard, where she has 10 chickens, four cats, and one dog, Derek. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, going to Bible study, competing in pageants, and practicing her talent: singing.

Year of service statement:

I have high hopes to make the next year worthwhile, not just for but also for the Yavapai County area through serving the people of Prescott, my platform, and the Children’s Miracle Network. I plan to help make the area proud of our team at Miss Arizona. My platform is about serving victims of traumatic violence. This May I plan to go on a mission trip to Thailand and Cambodia and visit multiple safe homes and do any projects needed for an organization called Destiny Rescue, a nonprofit that saves children who have been exploited in the sex trade. I also plan to fundraise and go to events for Phoenix Children’s Hospital and possibly do some hospital visits to children recovering in the hospital.

Dimon Sanders – Miss Yavapai County

After being in the foster care system for five years, Dimon Sanders almost gave up on her happily ever after. Now a freshman at Western New Mexico University studying Elementary Education, she continues to dedicate her life to creating hope for kids in foster care.  Her second chance at happiness came after being adopted by her forever family at the age of 13.  Determined to not let her past dictate her future, she has dedicated the past five years of her life to giving a voice to the seemingly voiceless and being an advocate for children in foster care. She volunteers and partners with organizations that offer support and services to those kids. A few of those are various CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) programs, I Am You 360, Prevent Child Abuse Arizona, Together We Rise, and Arizona Children’s Association.  She has been competing in the Miss America Organization for the past five years.

Statement:

I am so excited to be the first Miss Yavapai County!  I can’t wait to continue serving the community while sharing my personal platform, as well as the national platform of the Miss America Organization which is Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.  I’m no stranger to Yavapai County. I have worked with Prevent Child Abuse Arizona, located in Prescott, on several of its initiatives.
