Telling the stories that shape our community.
Arizona in All its Glory
When Prescott residents Cal Seabaugh and Kelly Williams say they’ve seen Arizona, they mean it: the duo spent 45 days this past fall hiking the entire Arizona National Scenic Trail—all its 800 miles and 110,000 feet of elevation gain.
Stretching the length of the state, from Utah to the Mexican border, the trail, also known as the Arizona Trail, showcases Arizona’s diverse landscape. And, Kelly, said, “It’s all spectacular.”
Preserving a Prescott Tradition
Nestled in the heart of downtown Prescott, Papa’s Italian has been a cherished community restaurant since 1991. Stepping inside, visitors are instantly transported to the Italian countryside, surrounded by walls embellished with beautiful murals, cozy seating tailored for families of all sizes, and traditional Italian aromas filling the air.
Prescott Shines Bright
Prescott was officially designated as Arizona’s Christmas City in 1989 because the city had long been known for its festive holiday events. Today, Prescott offers a multitude of holiday attractions and is increasingly a destination for visitors looking for special ways to celebrate.
In 2022, the City of Prescott and Prescott Chamber of Commerce Foundation formed the official Arizona Christmas City Organization. This organization brought the city’s main holiday events together under one umbrella, enabling event organizers to collaborate on marketing, fundraising, and sponsorship assistance.
The following events now work together within the Arizona Christmas City Organization: the Prescott Holiday Light Parade, hosted by the Prescott Downtown Partnership; the Christmas Parade & Courthouse Lighting, hosted by the Prescott Chamber of Commerce; the Acker Night Music Festival, hosted by the Acker Foundation; and the Whiskey Row Boot Drop, hosted by the Whiskey Row Boot Drop, LLC.
This collaboration will continue to grow and help support each event financially for years to come.
A Safe Haven for Pets
Are you and your pets prepared for a possible fire, flood, or other emergency requiring you to evacuate? Animal Disaster Services, Inc. (ADS) provides a free, 24-hour temporary shelter for household pets and small domesticated animals during a disaster. ADS is entirely mobile, has predetermined shelter locations, and is under the direction of the Yavapai County Office of Emergency Management. Established in 1999, it is the only household pet emergency shelter organization in Arizona, covering all of Yavapai County.
A Sweet Read
Joan Dwyer is one of Prescott’s very own published authors.
She has lived in Northern Arizona for the past 20 years but moved to Prescott three years ago for the milder winters. She is an established author, but her most recent joy is her children’s book, “The Candy Cane Princess.”

(Mother or Mentor) Award Recipient.
Forcing Change
My father, who is French, had an expression he used in my childhood moments of impatience: “Forcer, c’est casser.” It translates to “To force is to break.”
Empowering … and Fun!
The Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course (FLG X) features five courses with increasingly challenging obstacles and zip lines, as well as a separate zip line course that’s billed as the largest in the western U.S. with more than 30 lines. Platforms reach heights of 65 feet and zip lines are as high as 70 feet in the ponderosa pine forest.

‘Live Life With Love’
Esther Basch has nothing tangible by which to remember her parents—no pictures, no keepsakes, no heirlooms. What she does have are the lessons they taught her: faith, forgiveness, and love … and she infuses her life with those every day, honoring her parents and spreading an invaluable message.
Esther, the only child of Rabbi Moises Roth and his wife Fanny Roth, had an idyllic childhood in Szollosh, a small town in what is now Ukraine (it was Hungarian when Esther’s mother was born there, Czechoslovakian when Esther was born, and Hungarian again when she was 9 or 10). She and her friends picked ripe berries, raced up hillsides, and climbed trees.
As a local mortgage lender with a personal touch, New American Funding offers several advantages
If you’re looking for a home loan or even trying to save a purchase, it’s a good bet to seek out a mortgage lender because they focus only on home loans. That means they know the home loan business inside and out.
In Prescott, the folks at New American Funding mortgage company say they left other financial institutions just for that reason.
