A Holiday Experience for All to Enjoy
Skip the decorating and impress your holiday guests by purchasing a one-of-a-kind tree or wreath that can be delivered to your door. Festival of Trees Prescott is celebrating its 7th year of kicking off the holiday season in Arizona’s Christmas City, Wednesday, November 20 through Saturday, November 23.
During this holiday favorite, local businesses come together to create a beautifully decorated forest of Christmas trees and wreaths that are then sold to the public. This event is held at the beautiful and historic Sam Hill Warehouse in downtown Prescott.
Home: a Source of Happiness and Hope
“Home should be a source of happiness and hope. Home should offer a safe and stable environment. Home should help, not hinder, a person’s ability to thrive.” – Shaun Donovan, former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
Do you have a decent, safe, and affordable place to live?
Many do not. Families living in substandard and deteriorating housing conditions are in every community. It’s a real and ever-growing problem. Those living in poor conditions are exposed to greater personal and environmental health risks, are less well-nourished and have a higher risk of illness and disability.

Respect, Teamwork, and Limitless Possibilities
Generally, when people think of Arizona Public Service (APS)—the largest electricity provider in the state—they may picture men at the forefront. And while men make up the majority of the employee roster (as of May, 27.4 percent of APS’s 6,000 employees are women), there is a growing number of women employees within the organization … in a variety of roles.
Mackenzie Rodgers, APS Transmission Operations and Maintenance, explained that as an organization, APS supports women in all roles, including leadership … and many opportunities exist that the public—and women in particular—may not expect.
“I’ve worked in many jobs where I’m the only woman on the team or one of many women on the team,” Mackenzie said, “but I have never felt not supported or empowered or mentored to be my best and support other women to be their best as well.”
Strong Families, Happy Kids: Parenting Tips from Prevent Child Abuse Arizona
Sometimes, life itself feels pretty urgent. Between school carpools, work, kids’ homework, practices, making dinner (yes, you have to feed the kids every single night), and squeezing in a little time for yourself, the days fly by.
Live local horse racing is back on track
With horses once again galloping around the oval track in the northeast PV grasslands, the century-old tradition of horse racing has returned to the Prescott area after a nine-year hiatus.
Arizona Downs opened its doors on Memorial Day Weekend, with horse racing continuing there through Labor Day Weekend. If you’re looking for something unusual to do this summer, you might not realize that a trip to the track offers something for all ages. Special events and promotions are planned every weekend.
A Showy Season
We have more than 50 glazed containers decorating the patios in the front and back yards. Many are super impressive, but even more need the gardener’s touch to keep that decorative style through the seasons to come. Here’s my go-to list of autumn plants that outshine the rest though the end of the year.
‘I Show People How Powerful They Are’
Leanne Shearer believes she’s exactly where she is supposed to be, doing what she’s supposed to do: helping people change the trajectory of their lives.
“I show people how powerful they are,” said the lifestyle coach, who owns Anytime Fitness with her husband, “and how much information they have in their own bodies to find answers to perplexing challenges.”
To deliver her message to a broader audience, this past fall Leanne launched Undone + Uncensored, “a no-BS podcast that unravels life’s most complex issues.”
