The Women’s Foundation for the State of Arizona holds its inaugural Daring Generations events, tributes to incredible women

The Women’s Foundation for the State of Arizona (WFSA) is proud to share the resounding success of its inaugural Daring Generations events, held in Phoenix and Tucson. These celebrations were more than just gatherings; they were powerful tributes to incredible women making a tangible difference in their communities. The overwhelming response and sold-out attendance are testaments to the importance and impact of honoring women’s contributions across various stages of life.

The Daring Generations events honored ten outstanding women and numerous finalists, recognizing their efforts in driving change and fostering community development. These women exemplify leadership, resilience, and the spirit of empowerment, serving as beacons of inspiration for future generations. The evenings were memorable, thanks to the incredible support of attendees, sponsors, and a generous $10,000 match donation from Tucson Electric Power.

WFSA celebrated women’s achievements’ past, present, and future, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to fostering a community where women can thrive at every stage of their lives. We look forward to many more events that highlight and honor the extraordinary women among us. Congratulations to the winners and those who love and support them: Shelley Jackson, Sharifa Rowe, Ashley La Russa, Kischea Talbert, Stephanie Noriega, Berta Carbajal, Susan Claassen, Raquel Consuelo Gutierrez, Syrena Arevalo, and Darlene Peralta.

In addition to celebrating these inspiring women, the WFSA team is thrilled to announce that Cheryl House has stepped into the role of Board Chair for WFSA starting on July 1, 2024. Cheryl has been an invaluable member of WFSA’s board since September 2021, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience from the Development and Fundraising sector of Southern Arizona.

Cheryl’s impressive career includes significant leadership roles at the University of Arizona Health Sciences (UAHS), where she served as Interim Associate Vice President and Chief Development Officer, as well as Senior Director of Development. Before her tenure at UAHS, Cheryl made substantial contributions to the Pima Community College Foundation, where she was Assistant Vice Chancellor and Executive Director. Her outstanding achievements in fundraising were recognized in 2001 when she was named Outstanding Fundraising Executive by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) of Southern Arizona.

As WFSA’s next Board Chair, Cheryl’s extensive experience and strategic vision will be instrumental in guiding the organization through its next iteration. The women of WFSA extend their heartfelt thanks to Cheryl for her dedication and leadership and look forward to the exciting advancements WFSA will achieve under her stewardship.

The WFSA team is excited about the future and the continued support of extraordinary women in the community.
