Local Exec Loves Her New Hometown
Prescott Woman Magazine interviewed Mimi Berryman, Office and Benefits Manager for Fann Contracting, and member of the Prescott Chamber of Commerce. We learned about how much she values camaraderie, networking, and the power of mentorship.
PWM: For how long have you been a member of the Prescott Chamber of Commerce?
Mimi: Fann Contracting, Inc. has been a member since 1975, and I was fortunate to attend the Women in Business lunch in August. What a wonderful group of ladies!
PWM: Tell us what brought you to Prescott, and the role you are in as far as employment.
Mimi: The pandemic is what really brought me to Prescott on a permanent basis. Having just finished building our future retirement home in Prescott, my husband and I decided to “work from home” in this beautiful town rather than our Phoenix home during the stay-at-home orders. And, like they say, the rest is history! I resigned from my position in HR after 35 years at a heavy civil construction company in Phoenix and was offered the position of HR Manager at Fann Contracting. After two years, I transitioned into my current role as Office and Benefits Manager, and feel lucky to work with such a great team of employees and be a part of the Fann Family!
PWM: What about the Prescott Chamber is different from other organizations in the area, and what do you personally enjoy best about being part of it?
Mimi: I personally enjoy the networking and camaraderie when we get together; getting to know other members on a professional and personal level.
Do you serve any additional roles within the Chamber? (ie Ambassador, Board Member, Staff)
Mimi: No.
PWM: Do you have family here? Children? Other activities in which you participate?
Mimi: My husband and I have four children combined, ranging in age from 26–32, with our second grandchild on the way! The majority of my family still live in the Phoenix area, so we are especially looking forward to the I-17 Flex Lanes project being completed in the next few years. In my free time I like to travel, watch football and golf, and relax with family and friends.
PWM: How are you involved in the community?
Mimi: We’ve been season ticket holders of the Wranglers (Indoor Football League) the last two years and couldn’t be prouder of the team winning the national championship this year! We also volunteer each year at the Prescott Rodeo, and like to participate in the variety of events going on around the Courthouse Square throughout the year. On a professional level, I value being a member of Prescott Area Human Resources Association and attending the semi-annual conferences which showcase some terrific topics and speakers.
PWM: What else do you want to add that people might not know about you, or what you do/offer?
Mimi: I have a passion for mentoring! Sharing my experience and knowledge to help others grow in their professional development is very rewarding to me. I really enjoy supporting and coaching the next generation … while learning from them as well! I’ve had the opportunity to build some great relationships so far and look forward to creating many more.
