Horses with Heart’s Equine Assisted Learning Program Creates Daily Miracles

Many daily miracles occur through Horses with Heart in Chino Valley. A new Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) program promises to create even more.

Accredited through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International, Horses with Heart has provided therapeutic riding to people with disabilities, veterans, first responders, and seniors since 1993.

EAL is an experiential learning method (based on experiences and observation) that promotes personal growth and improved life skills through partnership with horses. Skills developed include trust, confidence, communication, social skills, boundary setting, respect, critical thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership. Credentialed facilitators guide safe interactions with our horses.

In this unmounted (non-riding) program, EAL sessions are specifically tailored to the needs of the participants (ages eight and older) individually or in small groups. Those benefitting from EAL may include military veterans, first responders, teenagers, foster parents, foster children, caregivers, and those dealing with dementia, grief and loss, trauma, and job burnout. Additionally, EAL is an effective method of team building, improving productivity, and goal-setting experiences for those in business, health care, other non-profits, and professional organizations.

One participant in EAL at Horses with Heart said, “I no longer feel the pain I had when I first arrived.” To the horse, they wrote, “Thank you for your warm breath of magnificent presence…and for letting me be in the moment with you…and for mostly being a horse with heart.”

We invite you to witness the many daily miracles that occur at our ranch. Please call our office at 928.533.9178 to arrange a tour. Contact us by email at [email protected]
