Local salon owner shares a guide for women entrepreneurs
By Laura Covell, owner/hairstylist, Alchemist Studio
Hey there, fellow women entrepreneurs! If you’re running your business solo, having a strong support system is a game-changer. That’s where a mastermind team comes in. It’s a crew of like-minded business owners who come together to support, guide, and hold each other accountable on our entrepreneurial journeys. Here are some tips for finding the right people to team up with, so we can all take our businesses to the next level.
I’ve successfully rebuilt a clientele three times since becoming a hairstylist. With each move it got easier because I learned quickly how important it is to build these relationships with fellow business owners and to find your team. I networked, volunteered, made new friends, and found other solo business owners. By doing this you’ll waste less time marketing in the wrong places and learn from others what works best in the area you live in.
First things first: what are your goals and needs? Are you looking for specific expertise, like marketing or finance? Or maybe you just need some extra motivation to keep pushing forward. Knowing what you want out of your dream team will help you find the perfect squad to join forces with.
Once you’ve got your goals in mind, it’s time to start scouting for potential team members. Look for other women entrepreneurs who share your values and work ethic. You can start by tapping into your network, reaching out to fellow business owners, or joining online communities for women entrepreneurs.
When you approach potential members, be real about what you’re looking for. Lay out the game plan for your team, including how often you’ll meet and the kinds of topics you’ll dive into. Trust and respect are key from the beginning, so everyone feels comfortable sharing and supporting each other.
As you start meeting with your dream team, encourage everyone to speak up and get involved. Share your wins, your struggles, and your wild ideas. Support each other and get ready for some fresh perspectives and solutions to come your way.
To strengthen your connections, consider setting up casual hangouts, workshops, or retreats. The friendships and partnerships you build with your dream team can go way beyond business, so nurture those relationships.
Lastly, be open to change and growth within your dream team. As your business evolves, you might need to bring in new members or switch up how you work together. Flexibility is key to keeping your dream team dynamic and beneficial to your entrepreneurial journey.
Building your dream team as a solo woman entrepreneur will make your business thrive. With the right crew by your side, you’ll have the support and knowledge you need to take your business to new heights. So, let’s team up, share our hustle, and lift each other up as we crush our business goals!
