Holidays, Health, Happiness!
Typically, most of us jump into October anticipating the beginning of Fall. This seems to be the psychological nudge we gladly welcome to kick off the next two months of overindulging as we eat and celebrate.
What if we try something new this year?
Bring in your holiday recipes and we will personally help you re-create healthy versions of your family favorites!
Women in Rodeo
This year, the World’s Oldest Rodeo® will shine a spotlight on an extraordinary group of athletes and contributors: the Women in Rodeo. With a nod to the trailblazing women who have shaped rodeo culture from its earliest days, this year’s theme celebrates the often overlooked yet pivotal role women have played in the rodeo world. From barrel racing to trick riding and beyond, women have been integral in shaping not only Prescott Frontier Days®, but the entire sport of rodeo.
“We are incredibly excited to unveil ‘Women in Rodeo’ as the theme for 2025,” said Jim Dewey Brown, General Manager of Prescott Frontier Days®, Inc. “This allows us to honor the deep-rooted traditions and the countless women who have contributed to the history of rodeo—not just as competitors, but as leaders, stock contractors, and pioneers in the sport. Their strength, grit, and determination are central to our rodeo’s legacy.”

It can be easy to feel that no matter what we do, it’s never enough.

Save the Dells
The Granite Dells. They’re one of the things that really define Prescott; a wild and free landscape like our city’s grandmothers found when they came here a century ago.
What will our town become if there are hundreds of homes, miles of new roads, and a huge resort in the heart of the Dells? That’s a question that keeps me up at night. It’s why I volunteer full-time for Save the Dells.
Top 10 Houseplants for a Healthy Indoors
The seals on today’s ultra-efficient homes keep outside air from penetrating their interiors, thus recirculating inside air without added freshness. A three-month-old air filter cleans only so many particles before choking on its own dust. We won’t mention formaldehyde-ridden foreign products brought into the home for the holidays. In the past, toxins weren’t an environmental problem because fresh air was ever-present. Now that we’ve made our homes nearly airtight, the freshness that indoor plants provide is more vital than ever.
Preventing Broken Bones
JoAnn spends every weekend possible hiking. She’s trekked the Grand Canyon five times and has explored hiking trails throughout Arizona. That’s why she was surprised when a bone density scan revealed she had osteoporosis, a condition that causes bone loss and can lead to fractures.
“I was running, hiking, walking, and eating high-calcium foods and I still had bone loss,” she said.
JoAnn is among 54 million Americans who have osteoporosis or low bone mass, according to the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF). To help Yavapai County residents, Dignity Health Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC) offers dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). This simple, painless exam measures bone density and is available in two locations:
