From reduced inflammation to better sleep and decreased pain

to help with anxiety, CBD offers hope

A

lthough the words, “hemp” and “marijuana” might bring some stigma-driven images to mind, the truth is that Hemp Cannabidiol (also known as CBD) offers myriad benefits.

What is CBD?

CBD is one of many compounds found in the cannabis plant. Typically, marijuana contains 5 to 30 percent of the mind-altering Tetrahydrocannabinol (also known as THC), while hemp must contain no more than 0.3 percent THC. Because of specialized extraction methods, hemp CBD is rich in omega -3 fatty acids, amino acids, terpenes, antioxidants, and many other beneficial compounds. The amount of THC present in hemp CBD will not give you a high. Unlike THC, CBD won’t change your mental state or create feelings of intoxication.

Is it Legal?

Forty-seven states, including Arizona, support the sale and use of hemp-derived CBD oil. If CBD extracts are made from agricultural hemp and contain less than 0.3 percent THC, then odds are good that they’re legal to purchase and use where you live. (Keep in mind that rules, regulations and interpretations are rapidly changing, so it’s important to check local regulations before buying.)

The Benefits are Worth Pursuing

Decades of scientific studies show that CBD oil interacts with the body through a variety of biological processes that can reduce inflammation, boost relaxation, and improve sleep and much, much more. Hemp CBD oil won’t make a lot of difference with severe pain, such as that which accompanies a broken bone, but it is safe and effective for chronic pain and relaxing muscles. Many people use it as a replacement for Advil or Aleve to reduce the risk of compromising their kidneys. Because of CBD’s ability to ease pain from multiple sclerosis, nerve damage, and spinal cord injuries, many people prefer it to highly sedating and occasionally addictive opiates. Hemp CBD oil is considered a promising treatment for epilepsy, especially in children.

Because of the way CBD oil impacts neural receptors, evidence shows that it can benefit those with neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, strokes, and can also be helpful in treating schizophrenia.

The National Cancer Institute states that CBD oil might be useful for suppressing cancer symptoms, as well as the side effects from cancer treatments. Other research shows CBD can be helpful for acne, withdrawal symptoms from cigarette smoking, anxiety disorders, and risk of Type 1 Diabetes. Because CBD reduces inflammation, it is useful for many health problems. Hemp CBD is available in capsules, concentrates, crystals, sprays, tinctures, salves, vapes, and gummy bears.
