If anything has changed in the past 150 years, it’s education. The Prescott Unified School district is no exception; a century and a half ago, all the students from the entire district fit inside a four-room schoolhouse, where they learned reading, writing, and arithmetic.

As humans age, our bodies become more reactive to what we put in them. We also stop producing important vitamins and minerals, which impact how we feel.

Happy, Healthy, Safe, and Loved
These lucky seniors are provided everything they need to live a healthy, happy life. This year, Dogtree Pines has taken in more than forty senior dogs from various sources, primarily high-kill shelters, all of which were high risk due to age, health, or mental state. A few have been adopted out but the majority that makes it to the pines are there to stay.
When these seniors arrive, a veterinarian evaluates their medical needs and creates a healthcare plan, including scheduling veterinary care as needed. Dogtree Pines staff feed these homemade nutritious food, supplements, and medications as needed.

Unique and Unforgettable
Jen Martin is a prominent name in the aerial performance industry, renowned for making weddings truly unforgettable. Her company, Suspended Fluidity, specializes in delivering breathtaking aerial performances that entertain and enhance various events. Jen is committed to ensuring these presentations are safe, artistic, and professional, helping couples create memorable moments for their event.
Previously, Jen owned an entertainment company in New York that booked dancers and aerialists. After relocating to Arizona, she founded Suspended Fluidity in 2021 to combine her passions for performing, creating, and teaching.
When it comes to her craft, Jen says, “I will always love to combine aerial and dance in unique ways whenever possible.” She continuously brings fresh ideas to captivate event guests, including an aerial-based lollipop diamond apparatus and a movable, wearable champagne skirt.
Meet Big Sister Rebecca & Little Sister Abigail
On a recent beautiful summer’s day, Big Sister Rebecca Finken took her Little Sister Abigail on a paddleboard adventure on Prescott’s Watson Lake.
This match made by Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters (YBBBS) is based on trust, friendship, and having adventures like paddleboarding to show Abigail, 10, what the world around her has to offer. The pair participate in video chats and projects, try out the local climbing gym, visit area attractions, and sometimes just hang out and talk.
Arizona’s very own Shangri-La; Castle Hot Springs resort is back
Nestled at the southern tip of the Bradshaw Mountains amidst towering saguaros and jagged sunburned rocks, a true Sonoran Shangri-La once existed.
It was the winter home of Gilded Age titan families including the Vanderbilts and Rockefellers, who spent their mornings on horseback with local ranching families such as the Champies before relaxing in the natural hot springs or playing a round at Arizona’s first golf course.
Blooms that Last
It’s frustrating to design a new flowerbed around your favorite perennial flowers, like delphiniums, Shasta daisies, and pincushion flower, only to see them peter out after three or four years. Here is a list of perennial flowers notorious for their longevity. These are the bloomers you see in old neighborhoods, planted when the homes were first built and still blooming decades later.
The Right Tools = Magic
Jess had premenstrual migraines, debilitating fatigue, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, near-constant body aches, and weight gain which were all devastating her quality of life. Together we discovered that her blood sugar was unstable, which drove fatigue, and that she had problems processing estrogen, which caused cyclical inflammation that made migraines and body pain blow up and also worsened her Hashimoto’s.

No matter the medium, I love telling stories. The goal of connecting with others and communicating an overall vision and purpose is something I experience deep in my bones. When it comes to cultivating a brand, envisioning its message is a listener’s study in piecing together values and narrative so that a powerful mission statement or value proposition emerges. Making these ideas stand out also requires creativity.

Kat Richards and Trevor Jurgens have poured as much creativity into making their house a home as they do into their other endeavors. As a result, their ranch-style property in Prescott Valley showcases an eclectic blend of old and new, color and texture, while also reflecting their values, interests, and personalities.
