Powering the Next Era: Why the BBB Industrious Women’s Summit Is Worth the Trip
If you’ve ever left a conference feeling energized, inspired, and full of new ideas, you know the value of spending a day learning alongside people who simply “get it.”
That’s exactly what the BBB Industrious Women’s Summit aims to create.
On Friday, August 21, women from across Arizona will gather at the Better Business Bureau’s Phoenix campus for a day focused on leadership, professional growth, and meaningful connections. This year’s theme, “Powering the Next Era,” is a fitting reminder that women continue to shape businesses, nonprofits, and communities in powerful ways.
How Well Do You Know Your Neighbors?
Like many living in the Prescott area, I’m not from around here. I’m still new to the region and still getting to know my neighbors. When I was a kid, I knew all of them. It seems harder now. Maybe it’s our fast-paced lives or our phones that keep us a little more isolated than before.
I began working at Prescott Meals on Wheels in 2022, and part of my onboarding included a ride-along on one of our many routes, where drivers deliver hot, fresh meals to homebound neighbors who can no longer cook for themselves. On that first route, I watched the driver do far more than deliver meals. He genuinely engaged with each person, asking how they were doing, catching up on family news, and listening with care.

Leading with Purpose: Jodi Mullins’ Commitment to Community and Service
In a field where strength, compassion, and resilience must coexist, Jodi Mullins has built a career defined by service, perseverance, and a deep commitment to her community. As the Police Community Services Supervisor for the Prescott Valley Police Department, Jodi brings decades of experience and a heart for helping others into every aspect of her work.
Jodi’s journey in law enforcement began in 1989 with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, where she served as a deputy sheriff. Inspired by a desire to protect and advocate for those who could not help themselves, she embraced a career that demanded both courage and compassion. After a career-ending injury in 2004, Jodi didn’t step away from service—she adapted. Transitioning into a civilian role as a background investigator, she continued to support the field she loved.

Hypnotherapy: Calming the Nervous System From the Top Down
For decades, hypnosis and hypnotherapy have been misunderstood. Stage shows featuring people being “put under” for entertainment have given hypnosis a reputation for being silly, unsafe, or even manipulative. But the truth is very different. Hypnosis and hypnotherapy are powerful, evidence-based healing modalities that help us access the subconscious beliefs and patterns that quietly run our lives. Once those patterns are made conscious, they can be changed — often leading to profound healing in the mind, the nervous system, and day-to-day life.

Going High-Tech
Thanks to significant renovations, the Yavapai College libraries—now known as the Centers for Learning and Innovation—will provide resources, technology, and usable space for everyone.
Jeff Falls, Senior Project Manager with Haley Construction, the firm completing the renovations, said, “As we’re moving into the future,” the team will “completely gut” both libraries “down to bare walls.”
It’s a big job: the Clarkdale building is 11,000 square feet, and the Prescott building is 30,000 square feet.
Since the project goal is to make the spaces high-tech, Jeff said, “A whole new level of infrastructure has to go in.”
