That’s exactly what the BBB Industrious Women’s Summit aims to create.
On Friday, August 21, women from across Arizona will gather at the Better Business Bureau’s Phoenix campus for a day focused on leadership, professional growth, and meaningful connections. This year’s theme, “Powering the Next Era,” is a fitting reminder that women continue to shape businesses, nonprofits, and communities in powerful ways.

Finding Her Voice and Using It for Others
Isabelle Brown, a full-time student at Prescott High School, is proof that leadership has no age requirement — and no single path. While balancing academics, she serves as president of The Launch Pad’s Teen Advisory Council, volunteers with Prescott Public Library’s Teen Advisory Group, and participates in Interact, including a transformative international service trip to Kenya.
The Dillon Duo
When the Kindergarten teacher position opened up at Lincoln Elementary School within the Prescott Unified School District (PUSD) in the 2024 school year, Lincoln alum Bethany Dillon knew she had to apply. After all, not only did she attend Lincoln, but her mom, Kim, teaches there, too.
Seeing each other most days is just one of the special perks that both women enjoy. Bethany said, “I am very lucky to spend the time learning from and watching my mom be the amazing teacher that she is!” Kim, a second-grade teacher who volunteered at Lincoln when Bethany attended there in 2002, fell in love with the Lincoln community and said working with Bethany, “…is always one of those full circle gratifying moments for me and why I often feel I have the best job in the world.”

Arizona’s Christmas City to Celebrate a Full Season of Holiday Cheer
The 35th Annual Acker Night will take place Friday, December 8, 2023 with the opening ceremony beginning at 5 pm on Gurley Street.
Next up is the 2nd Annual Christmas Village & Christkindl Market on December 15-17. Inspired by a centuries-old European tradition, it features holiday gift items from more than 20 local vendors, German-style foods, a Beer & Mulled Wine Garden.
The 13th Annual New Year’s Eve Boot Drop will be held Sunday, December 31, 2023, on historic Whiskey Row in downtown Prescott. This jubilant celebration on Montezuma Street starts at 7:30pm New Year’s Eve and goes until 12:30am New Year’s Day.
Tuning the Brain’s Orchestra
When educator and therapist Jen Beyst co-founded the Cognitive Function Development Institute, she was responding to both personal and professional callings. As a mother of three neurodivergent children and the granddaughter of a man who lost himself to Alzheimer’s Disease, Jen searched for answers where traditional methods fell short. This mission led her to neuroscience and the creation of Cognitive Function Development Therapy (CFDT).
“CFDT is like physical therapy for the brain,” Jen explained. “We identify weak functions through objective assessments and target them with engaging, structured activities. It’s like fine-tuning an orchestra; every part of the brain needs to play in sync for optimal performance.”

Before Sherry Rossman found the awesomeness of writing in the YA realm she dabbled in children’s stories. Her first YA novel became an Amazon bestseller shortly before her publisher closed its doors. But she forged on, exploring fantastical ideas and discovering that our world is more magical than we give it credit for. In her experience working with young adults and, more recently, the elderly, she has learned that our individual lives are beautiful stories forged from adversity and perseverance.
Building On a Family Tradition
Haley Construction has established a deep foundation in Prescott, and that foundation only continues to build with the third generation of owners.
Jim and Frances Haley brought their construction business to Prescott in 1960, which likely makes Haley Construction the oldest continually running general contractor in Yavapai County. Jim and Fran passed the business on to their sons Tom and Bill in the 1970s. Then Tom’s daughter Gillian and stepson Allan Crary bought the business in 2014.
