Enthusiasm, Multiplied
This year’s Prescott Film Festival (PFF) promises to be special. Not only does it mark the event’s fifteenth year, but it also includes nods to the festival’s history and to those who have grown and improved it throughout the years.
This year, when the festival runs July 16–20, “We’re going back to our roots,” PFF Co-Founder and Director Helen Stephenson said during a recent interview in her office at Yavapai College (YC).
That means returning to some of the festival’s original venues for screenings and honoring timeless local stories. Meanwhile, in celebration of this milestone year, there will be some special events
Giving and Finding Acceptance
People find a sense of community in Prescott in many ways. Whether through music, art, or other avenues, individuals are often able to connect over shared interests. Among these many emerging environments and spaces, the LGBTQ+ community has slowly gained acceptance as well, and the comfort seems to be growing for us all. A prime example of the dedication to supporting and recognizing LGBTQ+ individuals is Molly Freibott, executive director of Prism Network.

Let’s Talk Estate Planning
It may be hard to believe that a significant number of individuals do not have a will or trust in place. According to a 2020 Gallup survey, only 53% of adults over the age of 50 have a valid will or trust. A person does not need to be of high wealth to have a plan in place. There are several options for an estate plan; you may need to speak with an attorney to determine which option is best for you.
The Return of Summer Travel
During most of 2020, SpringHill Suites by Marriott in downtown Prescott underwent a massive top-to-bottom renovation including all guestrooms and public spaces. Also during 2020, Residence Inn by Marriott in Prescott (across from Trader Joe’s), installed four Electric Vehicle Charging Stations, offering free charging to anyone 24/7. Non-guests can charge for free while they relax in patio or lobby areas.
Growing Lavender
Lavenders grown in the mountains of Arizona are grouped into six main types: English, French, Spanish, Sweet, Fern leaf, and Lavandin. There are others, but these are the most robust and popular varieties found seasonally at Watters. You will find many types at Watters now, but more detail, photos, and purchase options are linked to each variety.
Pregnancy: The Best Time for Women to Transform Their Health
Four weeks after giving birth, I was already working full-time again when my daughter and I moved back into town.
My story isn’t typical. But Google “most stressful life events,” and having a baby rarely comes up. Consider that becoming a new parent happens within the context of an already-full life, and it’s astounding that new parents have so little support.
Here’s what we know: stress causes chronic disease, partly by raising blood sugar. High blood sugar is a health risk at any time in life, but pregnant and postpartum women are especially vulnerable.
‘A Rewarding and Unique Life’
Prescott Woman Magazine chatted with Natalie Mills, a flight instructor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, to find out what makes her enjoy Prescott and everything it has to offer.
