The Boys & Girls Clubs are getting youth outdoors this summer with the help of Dancing for the Stars event in August

By Clarissa Robertson

The outdoors is calling, and we must go!

With beautiful, diverse geography and all the natural resources available in our community, we have a golden opportunity to help raise an active and healthy generation. The Boys & Girls Clubs strive to offer increased chances for youth to learn and have fun outside. That’s why this year’s fun-and-adventure themed summer program incorporates physical activity and connections with nature.

The 2023 Summer Program is much more than just day long care for youth, as Clubhouses offer creative and engaging camp-oriented activities. Each themed summer week includes a wide range of games, sports, recreation, group projects, and crafts. As members explore their way through Adventure Week, they will participate in camping activities and crafts, as well as the Ultimate Journey, a program that includes activities in partnership with the National Park Service. Youth will also have a blast in themed weeks such as Sports Camp, Science Week, Arts Camp, Carnival Week, Beach Week, and so much more!

The Mountain Biking Program is of our most loved summer activities. The program offers fun trail rides, skill clinics and bike repair workshops, all organized around age and ability, taught and led by trained and experienced instructors. Participants stay active while enjoying this area’s natural beauty.

All these incredible programs are only possible thanks to the support of our community, as most of the funds that sustain Clubs’ operation come from the generosity of donors. Dancing for the Stars, the Clubs’ biggest fundraising event, raises a significant percentage of the organization’s annual budget. In this event, local celebrities team up with professional dancers for a dazzling performance and friendly fundraising competition. All proceeds directly benefit programs in our community.

Dancing for the Stars Season 7 takes place August 25–26, 2023 at the beautiful Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center at Yavapai College in Prescott. Please join us in recognizing, celebrating, and supporting the stellar cast performing this year:
