Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters program offers mentorship for young people … and benefits to all
Liberty Casarez and her Little Sister Dulce, 16, have been matched through Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters for more than five years. They are cheeseburger connoisseurs and enjoy finding amazing ones to try. They venture to museums like Sharlot Hall as well.
“I was familiar with the program, but thought I might not have enough time to be able to take part,” Liberty said. “I recognized the impact mentorship can have on a young person’s life; there is power in connection and guidance, especially at a young age.”
Liberty handles Community and Public Relations for Findlay Toyota Prescott. She also volunteers at Prescott Area Shelter Services and People Who Care.
She feels the Bigs program has been good for her, too: “I absolutely think it has benefited me along with my Little, helping or having conversations with them is always an opportunity to learn how you can lead them to success or what would have helped you when you were their age.”
