A Beautiful Blend of Music and Community
Founded in 2016, the Prescott Chorale comprises 50 members ranging in age from 30 to 85. Conductor Dennis Houser leads the group, which performs sings classical music, often with an orchestra and soloists, for around 1,500 folks each year.
The Prescott Chorale started as a group of 10 singers including Dennis and his wife, Kay. Searching for a space with good acoustics and more flexibility for their performances, they left the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center and formed their own group. Their relationship with the St. Luke’s community, where Dennis and his wife are the music staff, allowed them to secure a stage for their performances.

Healing through Song
The dream of an Interfaith choir carried with me when we moved to Prescott four years ago when Patty was called to be the minister at Granite Peak Unitarian Universalist Congregation. I called for an Interfaith choir and named it the Quad-City Interfaith Choir. We met once in March 2020 and then a week later we had to stop meeting due to COVID. My dream and desire didn’t fade, and last year I decided it was time to get a choir going again. I called the Prescott Latter-Day Saints music director, Juli Dalton, and we spent many hours talking about how we could gather singers from several congregations around Prescott. We partnered with Kellie Walker Hart, music director at Trinity Presbyterian Church and Rabbi Susan Schanerman from Temple B’rith Shalom and invited singers to join us for our first rehearsal last January.

Prescott Arts Journey – Summer Henry
Avatar Tat2 was established in 2001 and Summer came to Avatar for a guest spot in November 2011 and purchased the shop on December 2011. Avatar Tat2 is a fully woman-owned and operated local small business.
Summer says about her artist experience, “I feel like I was just born into it…. I’ve been drawing and painting since I can remember. Before that, juvenile doodles filled up the paper, hotel notepads, and napkins (when mom ran out of paper and couldn’t get to the store), all of which are in a hope chest at the foot of my bed. Proof of the passion I had at such an early age.”
