In Prescott, Dr. Phillips started a thriving medical practice and was soon busy caring for people throughout the community. He even traveled to Bagdad twice a week before that town had a local doctor.

“The road was very rough, so his ranch patients would sometimes meet him at their mailboxes for medical advice and prescriptions,” Mrs. Phillips said. “He went through 23 tires in one year with that experience.”

Carol White was inspired to start a home caregiver business when her mother was diagnosed with dementia.

Building upon her personal experience, teaching background, MBA and corporate knowledge, White opened Home Care Assistance (HCA) of Prescott. HCA offers non-medical in-home care that’s tailored to each client, including seniors and people with issues such as multiple sclerosis and mental illness.

Dusty & Dee Spitler have called Yavapai County home for 20 years. Along with helping people hear better, Dusty’s passion is all things animal.  After a near-fatal horse riding accident, Dusty got involved in riding safety and education.  She is a member of The Granite Mountain Riders and Backcountry Horsemen.

A wife, mother and registered nurse at Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC), she still finds time to strum the acoustic guitar and perform with her band, the Gurley Girls. In fact, Jen took up the guitar because the band already had a piano player. Today, she writes songs for the Gurley Girls, using her guitar as she composes.

Erin Rosberg is looking forward this winter’s Christmas season.
